Carpets are an extremely popular choice of flooring, particularly in rooms of your house where comfort is valuable, like living rooms and bedrooms. Carpet is the term for a kind of flooring where a material is either woven or tufted to a backing cloth. Carpets can be found in a large array of colours and styles to accommodate any type of interior decoration, as well as in a wide variety of different kinds of fibre and piles. A few of the more widespread examples of fibre materials include the synthetic fibres polypropylene and nylon, and the natural fibres wool, sisal, or jute. These kinds of carpet are commonly available in short or deep pile and can be made by utilising a range of production methods, such as twist, Saxony, loop pile, Berber, cut and loop, or velvet. Carpets may appear in patterned, plain or striped designs. All of these diverse kinds of carpet are rated according to their performance and how successfully they are suited to different levels of traffic. They are normally rated to be either medium domestic, meaning bedrooms or studies, heavy domestic, specifying living and dining rooms, and very heavy domestic, suited to utility rooms or hallways. It is always recommended to install carpet with a layer of underlay underneath, as this can enhance the look and feel of the carpet, as well as extending its life and delivering better sound and thermal insulation.

Carnoustie is a town and former police burgh within the council area of Angus in Scotland. It is at the mouth of the Barry Burn on the North Sea coast. Based on the 2011 census, Carnoustie features a permanent population of around 11394 people. This makes it the fourth biggest town in Angus. The town was founded in the late 1700s, and it grew quickly throughout the 19th century as a result of the development of the local textile industry. Carnoustie benefited from the 19th century fashion for sea bathing. The arrival of the railway enabled the town to grow into a well-liked tourist location, and it was promoted as the ‘Brighton of the North’ in the early twentieth century. Carnoustie may be regarded as a dormitory town. In addition to bringing industry to Carnoustie, the opening of the railway also made the town attractive for the middle classes, who used it as a commuter town for Dundee, further boosting population development in the town. Nearly 50% of the employed population now commute to Dundee for work. It remains to be served by Carnoustie railway station, and less so by Golf Street railway station. Its nearest major road is the A92. The town is best recognised for the Carnoustie Golf Links course that frequently hosts The Open Championship. Though golf has been played on Barry Links since the 16th century, a formal 10-hole golf course was laid out in 1850 to the style of Alan Robertson of St Andrews. It was later improved in 1867 by Old Tom Morris, who added a further 8 holes. This course was redesigned during the 1920s by James Braid.
