Carpets

Carpets are an extremely popular selection of flooring, especially in rooms of the house where comfort is crucial, like living spaces and bedrooms. Carpet identifies a kind of flooring where a material is either woven or tufted to a backing cloth. Carpets are available in a large array of colours and styles to suit any style of interior decor, as well as in a number of different types of fibre and piles. Several of the more popular examples of fibre materials include the artificial fibres polypropylene and nylon, and the natural fibres wool, sisal, or jute. Carpets can come in patterned, plain or striped designs. All of these different kinds of carpet are scored according to their performance and how well they are suited to different amounts of traffic. They are generally graded to be either medium domestic, meaning bedrooms or studies, heavy domestic, specifying living and dining rooms, and very heavy domestic, suited to utility rooms or hallways. It is always recommended to install carpet with a layer of underlay underneath, as this will improve the look and feel of the carpet, as well as increasing its life and delivering better sound and thermal insulation.
