While tiling is more frequently used to cover bathroom and kitchen walls, it can be a very beautiful flooring option. Relatively affordable, floor tiling comes in a wide variety of designs and styles and is suitable for use in many areas of your home. Floor tiling is most often applied to bathroom or kitchen floors as it is simple to clean and very tough, as well as being moisture proof. Floor tiles are normally manufactured from ceramic or porcelain, but they can be purchased in many other choices of material such as slate, marble and limestone, each of which will have a different appearance and durability.
When installing floor tiling, it is very important to ensure that the base surface is as clean and level as possible. Tiling also often requires an extra backing board to be laid on top of the pre-existing floor to be able to guarantee a flat finish and to maintain the lifespan of your tiles. After this extra board is installed, a layer of mortar is used to adhere the tiles down, and then the gaps in between are filled with grout to seal the tiles against moisture. Installing tiles yourself can be a difficult job which might require lots of tile cutting, and any errors can be extremely costly to rectify or even damage your floor, so choose a professional to fit your floor tiling. Specialist tiling companies can suggest for you the perfect tile to use for your room, and guarantee the fitting is of an exceptional standard.
