Carpets

Carpets are a very popular preference of flooring, particularly in areas of the house where comfort is essential, like living spaces and bedrooms. Carpet is the term for a variety of flooring where a material is either woven or tufted to a backing cloth. Carpets come in a huge range of colours and patterns to complement any style of interior decoration, as well as in a wide variety of different kinds of fibre and piles. Carpets can come in patterned, plain or striped designs. All of the various kinds of carpet are categorised according to their performance and how well they are suited to different amounts of traffic. They are usually rated to be either medium domestic, meaning bedrooms or studies, heavy domestic, specifying living and dining rooms, and very heavy domestic, suited to utility rooms or hallways. It is always recommended to fit carpet with a layer of underlay underneath, as this will enhance the look and feel of the carpet, as well as extending its life and offering better sound and thermal insulation.
