Ceramic Tile Flooring

Ceramic tiling is a widespread flooring option in kitchens or bathrooms. It’s normally fitted in these rooms as it is extremely durable and moisture resistant, especially if you use glazed ceramic tiles which have a moisture proof melted glass protective layer. This protective covering is resilient to stains and dirt, which means the tiles can simply be wiped clean, making them particularly easy to maintain. Ceramic tile flooring is also comparatively cheap, and is available in a wide range of designs as they can be printed in patterns or to simulate the appearance of many other flooring options such as hardwood or natural stones. Ceramic floor tiling is installed directly onto a concrete or backing board subfloor with a layer of mortar as adhesive and finally grout is added between the tiles to act as a sealant. Adequate preparation of the concrete subfloor is crucial when putting in ceramic tiles, as any bumps or ridges in the ground can significantly reduce the life of your tiles and cause them to crack or bend prematurely. Underlay cannot be used in combination with ceramic floor tiles, which may result in them feeling cool in the winter, although a favorite solution for this is to add rugs to achieve a warmer appearance.
