While tiling is more regularly used to cover bathroom and kitchen walls, it can be a very appealing flooring option. Relatively affordable, floor tiling is available in numerous designs and styles and is appropriate for use in many areas of your home. Floor tiling is generally applied to bathroom or kitchen floors as it is easy to clean and highly hard-wearing, as well as being moisture proof. Floor tiles tend to be made from ceramic or porcelain, but they can be purchased in many other options of material such as slate, marble and limestone, each of which will have a different appearance and durability.
When installing floor tiling, it is critical to ensure that the base surface is as clean and level as possible. Tiling also typically needs an extra backing board to be laid on top of the present floor so as to ensure a flat finish and to preserve the lifespan of your tiles. After this additional board is installed, a layer of mortar is used to stick the tiles down, and then the gaps in between are filled with grout to seal the tiles against moisture. Installing tiles yourself can be a difficult job which might require lots of tile cutting, and any mistakes can be very costly to correct or even damage your floor, so choose an expert to lay your floor tiling. Specialist tiling companies can suggest for you the ideal tile to use for your room, and ensure the fitting is of an exceptional standard.
