Renovating floors could involve a variety of tasks, from cleaning and maintenance, repairing existing flooring or even completely removing and replacing flooring. The sort of renovation work will vary among the type of the existing flooring. In older houses with period floors like flagstone, quarry tile or parquet, restoration will typically include repair and cleaning of the present floor as it will likely be a desirable feature of the home. In newer homes with carpet or wood floors, renovation is more likely to require completely replacing the current flooring, either like for like utilising a similar material, or by changing from one material to another.
For wooden floors, the approach of restoration generally entails sanding the top layer of real wood down, cleaning and then revarnishing or staining. Tile flooring can be cleaned and any broken or damaged tiles substituted, followed by regrouting or resealing. For carpets, maintenance can usually only extend to cleaning of the pile, any further problems or damage will usually require replacing the carpet.
Specialised floor renovation companies can advise you of the best solution to breathe new life into tired flooring or bring old flooring up to a high standard. Specialist tools are often required for repairing or replacing flooring.

Burford is a tiny medieval town on the River Windrush, in the Cotswold hillsides, in the West Oxfordshire district of Oxfordshire, England. It is frequently described as the ‘entrance’ to the Cotswolds. Burford lies 18 miles (29 km) west of Oxford and also 22 miles (35 km) southeast of Cheltenham, concerning 2 miles (3 kilometres) from the Gloucestershire limit. The toponym stems from the Old English words burh indicating fortified community or hilltown and also ford, the going across of a river. The 2011 Census recorded the population of Burford parish as 1,410 and also Burford Ward as 1,847. The town centre’s most remarkable building is the Church of St John the Baptist, a Church of England parish church, which is a Quality I listed building. Defined by David Verey as “a complex structure which has actually created in an interested way from the Norman”, it is known for its vendors’ guild church, memorial to Henry VIII’s barber-surgeon, Edmund Harman, including South American Indians and Kempe tarnished glass. In 1649 the church was used as a prison throughout the Civil War, when the New Model Army Banbury mutineers were held there. A few of the 340 detainees left makings and graffiti, which still make it through in the church. The town centre also has some 15th-century houses and the baroque design townhouse that is currently Burford Methodist Church. In between the 14th and 17th centuries Burford was necessary for its woollen profession. The Tolsey, midway along Burford’s High Street, which was when the centerpiece for trade, is now a museum.
