Laminate flooring is an extremely common choice of flooring due to its durability, ease of maintenance, and economical price. A relatively new addition to the market, laminate has rapidly grown in popularity as a replacement for real wood or stone floors. Laminate flooring is a type of synthetic composite flooring consisting of several layers, often with a fibreboard core covered with a decorative layer featuring a printed image of the design, and then lastly covered with a wear layer that helps to protect the floor from scrapes and other forms of damage.
Because laminate floor incorporates a decorative layer that can incorporate almost any image, it comes in a wide array of different effects to mimic the appearance of many other flooring materials like real wood or slate. While the majority of laminate floor includes a smooth top coating, it may also have embossed or textured effects which mimic other forms of flooring. Laminate flooring is suited to a number of rooms, but be careful if you intend on fitting it in a bathroom as specific moisture proofed laminate must be used. When choosing the best laminate for your property, choose one with an appropriate Abrasion Class (AC) ranking, as this designates the quantity of traffic the laminate is rated to perform well under.
Laminate flooring is relatively simple to install because of its snap or click together design. However, it is often time consuming to install a large amount of laminate, and also tricky to cut the planks to the precise dimensions, as well as difficult to ensure that the appropriate underlay and damp proofing is fitted to suit your house. Specialist flooring companies will be able to advise you on the best laminate floor for your space, and guarantee that it is fitted to the best quality.
