Laminate flooring is an extremely common choice of flooring due to its durability, ease of maintenance, and economical price. A relatively recent addition to the market, laminate has rapidly expanded in popularity as an alternative for real wood or stone floors. Laminate flooring is a variety of artificial composite flooring made up of several layers, often with a fibreboard core coated with a decorative layer featuring a printed image of the design, and then finally covered with a wear layer that protects the floor from scratches and other forms of damage. Because laminate floor features a decorative layer that can include any kind of image, it comes in a wide variety of different effects to mimic the looks of many other styles of flooring like real wood or slate. While the majority of laminate floor features a smooth top coating, it can also include embossed or textured effects which mimic other styles of flooring. Laminate flooring is well suited for a wide range of rooms, but be cautious if you plan on installing it in a bathroom as specific moisture proofed laminate should be used. When choosing the right laminate for your house, pick one with an appropriate Abrasion Class (AC) ranking, as this specificies the quantity of traffic the laminate is scored to perform well under. Laminate flooring is relatively simple to install because of its snap or click together design. However, it is usually time consuming to install a sizable amount of laminate, and also tricky to cut the planks to the exact dimensions, as well as difficult to ensure that the correct underlay and damp proofing is installed to suit your house. Specialist flooring companies will be able to advise you on the most appropriate laminate floor for your room, and ensure that it is fitted to the highest quality.
