Laminate flooring is a very popular selection of flooring due to its durability, ease of maintenance, and economical price. A comparatively new addition to the market, laminate has quickly expanded in popularity as an alternative for real wood or stone floors. Laminate flooring is a kind of artificial composite flooring made up of several layers, often with a fibreboard core covered with a decorative layer featuring a printed image of the design, and then lastly covered with a wear layer that helps to protect the floor from scrapes and other types of damage. Because laminate floor incorporates a decorative layer that can include almost any image, it comes in a wide variety of different effects to mimic the looks of many other flooring materials like real wood or slate. While the majority of laminate floor includes a smooth top coating, it may in addition feature embossed or textured effects which mimic other types of flooring. Laminate flooring is ideal for a wide range of rooms, but be careful if you intend on fitting it in a bathroom as specific moisture proofed laminate must be used. When choosing the perfect laminate for your home, pick one with an appropriate Abrasion Class (AC) rating, as this designates the amount of traffic the laminate is ranked to perform well under. Laminate flooring is not too difficult to install due to its snap or click together design. However, it is usually time consuming to install a substantial amount of laminate, and also tricky to cut the planks to the exact size, as well as difficult to ensure that the appropriate underlay and damp proofing is installed to suit your house. Specialist flooring companies will be able to give you advice on the perfect laminate floor for your home, and ensure that it is fitted to the best quality.
