Ceramic tiling is a popular flooring option in kitchens or bathrooms. It’s normally found in these rooms as it is extremely durable and moisture resistant, especially if you opt for glazed ceramic tiles which have a moisture proof melted glass protective layer. This protective layer is resilient to stains and dirt, meaning the tiles can simply be wiped clean, making them extremely easy to care for. Ceramic tile flooring is also fairly cheap, and comes in a wide range of designs as they can be printed in patterns or to imitate the look of many other flooring options such as wood or natural stones. Even so, ceramic tiles continue to be very popular in traditional designs such as terracotta or dark gloss. Ceramic floor tiling is installed directly onto a concrete or backing board subfloor with a layer of mortar as adhesive and lastly grout is added between the tiles to act as a sealant. Sufficient preparation of the concrete subfloor is essential when putting in ceramic tiles, as any bumps or ridges in the ground can substantially reduce the life of your tiles and cause them to crack or warp prematurely. Underlay cannot be used with ceramic floor tiles, which may lead to them feeling cold in the winter, although a common solution to this is to include rugs to attain a warmer effect.

Barmouth is a community and area in the county of Gwynedd, north-western Wales, pushing the tidewater of the River Mawddach as well as Cardigan Bay. Situated in the Historic county of Merionethshire, the Welsh kind of the name is originated from “Aber” (tidewater) and also the river’s name, “Mawddach”. The English type of the name is a corruption of the earlier Welsh type ‘Abermawdd’. The community is served by Barmouth train station. The town expanded around the shipbuilding industry, and more just recently as a seaside resort. Remarkable buildings include the medieval Ty Gwyn tower house, the 19th century Ty Crwn roundhouse jail and St John’s Church. William Wordsworth, a visitor to Barmouth in the 19th century, explained it thus: “With a fine sea view in front, the hills behind, the wonderful estuary running 8 miles [13 km] inland, as well as Cadair Idris within compass of a day’s walk, Barmouth can constantly hold its very own against any type of opponent.” Dinas Oleu (Citadel of Light), which lies east of the community on the adjoining hillside, was the initial system of land to be contributed to the National Trust fund.
