Floor Tiling

While tiling is more regularly used to cover bathroom and kitchen walls, it can be a very beautiful flooring option. Relatively affordable, floor tiling is available in a multitude of designs and styles and is suitable for use in many parts of your home. Floor tiling is usually used on bathroom or kitchen floors as it is simple to clean and very long lasting, as well as being moisture proof. Floor tiles tend to be manufactured from ceramic or porcelain, however they are available in many other options of material such as slate, marble and limestone, each of which will have a different appearance and durability. When installing floor tiling, it is critical to ensure that the base surface is as clean and level as possible. Tiling also often needs an additional backing board to be laid on top of the pre-existing floor to be able to ensure a flat finish and to protect the lifespan of your tiles. After this additional board is installed, a layer of mortar is used to adhere the tiles down, and then the gaps in between are filled with grout to seal the tiles against moisture. The installation of tiles yourself can be a difficult job which may require lots of tile cutting, and any errors can be extremely costly to correct or even cause damage to your floor, so choose an expert to lay your floor tiling. Experienced tiling companies can inform you on the ideal tile to use for your room, and ensure the fitting is of a superior standard.
