Floor Tiling

Although tiling is more regularly used to protect bathroom and kitchen walls, it can be a very desirable flooring option. Relatively inexpensive, floor tiling is available in numerous designs and styles and is ideal for use in many rooms of your home. Floor tiling is most often suited for bathroom or kitchen floors as it is simple to clean and highly tough, as well as being moisture proof. Floor tiles are generally manufactured from ceramic or porcelain, however they are available in many other choices of material such as slate, marble and limestone, each of which will have a different appearance and durability. When installing floor tiling, it is critical to ensure that the base surface is as clean and level as possible. Tiling also usually needs an additional backing board to be laid on top of the current floor so as to ensure a flat finish and to maintain the lifespan of your tiles. After this additional board is installed, a layer of mortar is used to adhere the tiles down, and then the gaps in between are filled with grout to seal the tiles against moisture. Fitting tiles yourself can be a difficult job which may require lots of tile cutting, and any mistakes can be extremely costly to correct or even cause damage to your floor, so choose a professional to lay your floor tiling. Professional tiling companies can advise you on the perfect tile to use for your room, and ensure the fitting is of an exceptional standard.
