While tiling is more commonly used to protect bathroom and kitchen walls, it can be a very appealing flooring option. Relatively inexpensive, floor tiling is available in a multitude of designs and styles and is appropriate for use in many parts of your home. Floor tiling is most often used on bathroom or kitchen floors as it is easy to clean and highly sturdy, as well as being moisture proof. Floor tiles are typically manufactured from ceramic or porcelain, but they are available in many other options of material such as slate, marble and limestone, each of which will have a different appearance and durability.
When installing floor tiling, it is essential to ensure that the base surface is as clean and level as possible. Tiling also typically needs an additional backing board to be laid on top of the current floor to be able to ensure a flat finish and to preserve the lifespan of your tiles. After this additional board is installed, a layer of mortar is used to adhere the tiles down, and then the gaps in between are filled with grout to seal the tiles against moisture. Installing tiles yourself can be a difficult job which may require lots of tile cutting, and any errors can be very costly to rectify or even cause damage to your floor, so choose a professional to install your floor tiling. Experienced tiling companies can inform you on the perfect tile to use for your room, and ensure the fitting is of a high standard.

The town of Ballachulish in Lochaber, Highland, Scotland, is centred on former slate quarries. The name Ballachulish (Ballecheles, 1522– Straits town,) was much more properly applied to the area currently called North Ballachulish, to the north of Loch Leven, yet was appropriated for the quarry towns at East Laroch as well as West Laroch, either side of the River Laroch, which were actually within Glencoe and also South Ballachulish specifically. The principal industry is now tourism, although the majority of site visitors pass promptly by the town itself. The name Ballachulish (from Scottish Gaelic, Baile a’ Chaolais) indicates “the Town by the Narrows”. The tightens in question is Caolas Mhic Phàdraig – Peter or Patrick’s son’s narrows, at the mouth of Loch Leven. As there was no roadway to the head of Loch Leven till 1927, the Ballachulish Ferry, established in 1733, as well as those at Invercoe/Callert and also Caolas na Disadvantage were important. The Ballachulish ferry enclosed December 1975 when the Ballachulish Bridge ultimately opened. The Ballachulish Hotel and Ballachulish House (till lately a country house hotel) are located near the tightens at (south) Ballachulish Ferry as opposed to in the “modern” village some 3 miles (5 km) eastern. Ballachulish House was understood to be haunted, and the drive bring about it was ridden by a headless horseman. The community of Glenachulish depend on Gleann a’ Chaolais, the glen that diminishes to the narrows. This is the subject of the Gaelic tune, Gleann Bhaile Chaoil written by John Cameron (1865– 1951) and also recognized in your area both as the Paisley Poet and by his local nickname Iain Cealaidh. He is frequently perplexed with one more local poet also called John Cameron, recognized locally as Iain Rob (1822– 1898). Gleann a’ Chaolais is ringed by Beinn a’ Bheithir, a massif which includes two munros – Sgorr Dhearg and Sgorr Dhonuill. Recently a variety of new houses have actually been constructed locally in addition to vacation huts and also an art gallery. Also the areas of Gleann a’ Chaolais have been developed into the 9-hole Dragon’s Tooth fairway. Ignoring the tightens is the monument to James of the Glen, “hanged on this spot for a criminal activity of which he was not guilty”. Robert Louis Stevenson based his novel Kidnapped around the story of the Appin Murder. Whoever did eliminate The Red Fox (Campbell of Glenure) is still not known.
