While tiling is more generally used to protect bathroom and kitchen walls, it can be a very appealing flooring option. Relatively affordable, floor tiling is available in a multitude of designs and styles and is ideal for use in many areas of your home. Floor tiling is most often used on bathroom or kitchen floors as it is easy to clean and highly strong, as well as being moisture proof. Floor tiles are usually produced from ceramic or porcelain, however they can be purchased in many other choices of material such as slate, marble and limestone, each of which will have a different appearance and durability.
When installing floor tiling, it is essential to ensure that the base surface is as clean and level as possible. Tiling also often requires an extra backing board to be laid on top of the pre-existing floor in order to guarantee a flat finish and to preserve the lifespan of your tiles. After this extra board is installed, a layer of mortar is used to stick the tiles down, and then the gaps in between are filled with grout to seal the tiles against moisture. Fitting tiles yourself can be a difficult job which can require lots of tile cutting, and any mistakes can be extremely costly to correct or even damage your floor, so choose a professional to install your floor tiling. Professional tiling companies can advise you on the ideal tile to use for your room, and ensure the fitting is of a high standard.

Tarbert is a town in the west of Scotland, in the Argyll as well as Bute council area. It is developed around East Loch Tarbert, an inlet of Loch Fyne, and also crosses the isthmus which links the peninsula of Kintyre to Knapdale and West Loch Tarbert. Tarbert had a recorded population of 1,338 in the 2001 Census. Tarbert has a long history both as a harbour and also as a critical point player access to Kintyre and the Inner Hebrides. The name Tarbert is the anglicised type of the Gaelic word tairbeart, which literally converts as “carrying throughout” as well as describes the narrowest strip of land in between 2 bodies of water over which goods or entire boats can be brought (portage). In past times freights were released from vessels berthed in one loch, carried over the isthmus to the other loch, loaded onto vessels berthed there and shipped onward, permitting seafarers to avoid the sail around the Mull of Kintyre. Tarbert was anciently part of the Gaelic overkingdom of Dál Riata as well as shielded by three castles– in the village centre, ahead of the West Loch, and on the south side of the East Loch. The mess up of the last of these castles, Tarbert Castle, still exists and controls Tarbert’s horizon. Around the year 1098 Magnus Barefoot, King of Norway, had his longship carried throughout the isthmus at Tarbert to represent his possession of the Western Isles. Despite its distinction as a calculated fortress throughout the Middle Ages, Tarbert’s socioeconomic success came during the Early Modern period, as the port turned into a fishing town. At its height, the Loch Fyne herring fishery drew in thousands of vessels to Tarbert.
