Although tiling is more regularly used to cover bathroom and kitchen walls, it can be a very desirable flooring option. Relatively inexpensive, floor tiling is available in numerous designs and styles and is suited to use in many areas of your home. Floor tiling is most often suited for bathroom or kitchen floors as it is simple to clean and exceptionally resilient, as well as being moisture proof. Floor tiles are usually made from ceramic or porcelain, however they are available in many other options of material such as slate, marble and limestone, each of which will have a different appearance and durability. When installing floor tiling, it is very important to ensure that the base surface is as clean and level as possible. Tiling also often needs an additional backing board to be laid on top of the present floor to be able to guarantee a flat finish and to preserve the lifespan of your tiles. After this extra board is installed, a layer of mortar is used to adhere the tiles down, and then the gaps in between are filled with grout to seal the tiles against moisture. Installing tiles yourself can be a difficult job which can require lots of tile cutting, and any mistakes can be very expensive to rectify or even damage your floor, so choose a specialist to lay your floor tiling. Professional tiling companies can suggest for you the perfect tile to use for your room, and ensure the fitting is of a superior standard.
