While tiling is more regularly used to cover bathroom and kitchen walls, it can be a very attractive flooring option. Relatively low cost, floor tiling comes in a multitude of designs and styles and is appropriate for use in many areas of your home. Floor tiling is frequently suited for bathroom or kitchen floors as it is easy to clean and extremely hard-wearing, as well as being moisture proof. Floor tiles tend to be made from ceramic or porcelain, however they can be purchased in many other options of material such as slate, marble and limestone, each of which will have a different appearance and durability. When installing floor tiling, it is vital to ensure that the base surface is as clean and level as possible. Tiling also often needs an additional backing board to be laid on top of the present floor to be able to guarantee a flat finish and to maintain the lifespan of your tiles. After this extra board is installed, a layer of mortar is used to stick the tiles down, and then the gaps in between are filled with grout to seal the tiles against moisture. Fitting tiles yourself can be a difficult job which might require lots of tile cutting, and any mistakes can be extremely expensive to rectify or even damage your floor, so choose an expert to lay your floor tiling. Specialist tiling companies can suggest for you the perfect tile to use for your room, and guarantee the fitting is of a high standard.

The island, besides the land possessed by the Iona Cathedral Trust, was bought from the Duke of Argyll by Hugh Fraser in 1979 as well as donated to the National Trust for Scotland.
