Renovating floors may involve an array of tasks, from cleaning and maintenance, repairing existing flooring or even entirely removing and replacing flooring. The type of restoration work will depend upon the form of the current flooring. In older properties with period floors like flagstone, quarry tile or parquet, renovation will generally require repair and cleaning of the present floor as it will likely be an attractive element of the home. In modern houses with carpet or real wood flooring, restoration is more likely to consist of entirely exchanging the current flooring, either like for like utilising a similar material, or by changing from one material to another. For wooden flooring, the method of restoration usually consists of sanding the top layer of hardwood down, cleaning and then revarnishing or staining. Tile flooring can be cleaned and any broken or damaged tiles swapped out, followed by regrouting or resealing. For carpets, maintenance can usually only extend to cleaning of the pile, any further problems or damage will typically require replacing the carpet. Specialised floor renovation companies will be able to advise you of the best method to breathe new life into tired flooring or bring old flooring up to a high standard. Specialist tools are often essential for repairing or replacing flooring.

Iona is a small island in the Inner Hebrides off the Ross of Mull on the western shore of Scotland. It is primarily recognized for Iona Abbey, though there are other structures on the island. Iona Abbey was a centre of Gaelic monasticism for 3 centuries and is today known for its family member serenity as well as natural environment. It is a visitor location and a place for spiritual hideaways. Its contemporary Scottish Gaelic name implies “Iona of (Saint) Columba” (previously anglicised “Icolmkill”). The island, aside from the land had by the Iona Cathedral Trust, was purchased from the Duke of Argyll by Hugh Fraser in 1979 and contributed to the National Trust for Scotland. In 2001 Iona’s population was 125 and by the time of the 2011 census this had grown to 177 common citizens.
