Although tiling is more commonly used to cover bathroom and kitchen walls, it can be a very desirable flooring option. Relatively affordable, floor tiling comes in a wide variety of designs and styles and is appropriate for use in many rooms of your home. Floor tiling is usually used on bathroom or kitchen floors as it is simple to clean and highly long lasting, as well as being moisture proof. Floor tiles tend to be made from ceramic or porcelain, but they are available in many other choices of material such as slate, marble and limestone, each of which will have a different appearance and durability. When installing floor tiling, it is crucial to ensure that the base surface is as clean and level as possible. Tiling also often requires an additional backing board to be laid on top of the present floor so as to ensure a flat finish and to preserve the lifespan of your tiles. After this additional board is installed, a layer of mortar is used to stick the tiles down, and then the gaps in between are filled with grout to seal the tiles against moisture. Laying tiles yourself can be a difficult job which might require lots of tile cutting, and any errors can be extremely expensive to correct or even cause damage to your floor, so choose a specialist to install your floor tiling. Experienced tiling companies can advise you on the ideal tile to use for your room, and guarantee the fitting is of a high standard.
