Laminate flooring is an exceptionally popular choice of flooring due to its durability, ease of maintenance, and inexpensive price. A comparatively new addition to the market, laminate has rapidly increased in popularity as a substitute for real wood or stone flooring. Laminate flooring is a variety of synthetic composite flooring made up of several layers, typically with a fibreboard core coated with a decorative layer featuring a printed image of the design, and then lastly covered with a wear layer that helps to protect the floor from scrapes and other forms of damage.
Because laminate floor includes a decorative layer that can include almost any image, it comes in a wide array of different effects to mimic the aesthetics of many other types of flooring like real wood or slate. While the majority of laminate floor features a smooth top coating, it can also include embossed or textured effects which mimic other styles of flooring. Laminate flooring is suitable for a variety of rooms, but be cautious if you plan on fitting it in a bathroom as specific moisture proofed laminate should be used. When choosing the best laminate for your house, choose one with a suitable Abrasion Class (AC) ranking, as this designates the quantity of traffic the laminate is rated to perform well under.
Laminate flooring is relatively simple to install because of its snap or click together design. However, it is often time consuming to install a huge amount of laminate, and also tricky to cut the planks to the precise dimensions, as well as difficult to ensure that the right underlay and damp proofing is fitted to suit your house. Specialist flooring companies will be able to advise you on the most appropriate laminate floor for your space, and guarantee that it is installed to the highest quality.
