Although tiling is more frequently used to cover bathroom and kitchen walls, it can be a very appealing flooring option. Relatively affordable, floor tiling is available in numerous designs and styles and is ideal for use in many areas of your home. Floor tiling is usually used on bathroom or kitchen floors as it is easy to clean and highly long lasting, as well as being moisture proof. Floor tiles are typically manufactured from ceramic or porcelain, but they can be purchased in many other choices of material such as slate, marble and limestone, each of which will have a different appearance and durability. When installing floor tiling, it is critical to ensure that the base surface is as clean and level as possible. Tiling also typically requires an additional backing board to be laid on top of the current floor in order to guarantee a flat finish and to preserve the lifespan of your tiles. After this additional board is installed, a layer of mortar is used to stick the tiles down, and then the gaps in between are filled with grout to seal the tiles against moisture. Laying tiles yourself can be a difficult job which can require lots of tile cutting, and any mistakes can be very expensive to rectify or even damage your floor, so choose a specialist to install your floor tiling. Experienced tiling companies can suggest for you the perfect tile to use for your room, and ensure the fitting is of an exceptional standard.
