Renovating floors can entail a variety of tasks, from cleaning and maintenance, repairing existing flooring or even completely removing and replacing flooring. The kind of renovation work will vary among the sort of the existing flooring. In older properties with period floors such as flagstone, quarry tile or parquet, restoration will generally include repair and cleaning of the existing floor as it will likely be an important element of the property. In modern houses with carpet or wood floors, restoration is more likely to require entirely replacing the current flooring, either like for like utilising a similar material, or by changing from one material to another.
For wooden flooring, the process of restoration commonly consists of sanding the top layer of real wood down, cleaning and then revarnishing or staining. Tile floors can be cleaned and any broken or damaged tiles substituted, followed by regrouting or resealing. For carpets, maintenance can usually only extend to cleaning of the pile, any further issues or damage will usually require replacing the carpet.
Experienced floor renovation companies can advise you of the best method to breathe new life into tired floors or bring old floors up to a high standard. Specialist tools may also be required for repairing or replacing flooring.

Abbots Leigh is a civil parish in Somerset. It is about 3 miles west of the centre of Bristol.
Originally, the Middle English name of the village was Lega, and it didn’t become Abbots Leigh until the mid-12th century. It has a modest population of 799.
The village has an unusual history. The manor house, which is named after the village, housed Charles II when he left to go to France in 1651. He stayed with friends of the King’s travelling companion and they didn’t know the King’s identity during his stay. There is a footpath entitled Monarch’s Way that marks the King’s escape route through Abbots Leigh.
Abbots Leigh has a Gothic church of the Holy Trinity, built in the 15th century. It was restored and partially rebuilt between 1847-48 after a fire. The tower holds six bells, and three of them were cast by William Bilbie in 1781. It is a Grade II listed building under English Heritage.
Leigh Woods encompasses Abbots Leigh and is looked after by the National Trust. There are many walk maps available online for visitors to use.
If you live in Abbots Leigh and need to carry out some home developments, ensure you compare quotes from at least three reliable firms before you make a decision on who to choose.
