Renovating floors can entail a wide range of tasks, from cleaning and maintenance, repairing existing flooring or even completely removing and replacing flooring. The sort of renovation work will depend on the form of the current floor. In older properties with period floors such as flagstone, quarry tile or parquet, renovation will typically include repair and cleaning of the present floor as it will likely be an appealing element of the property. In modern homes with carpet or real wood flooring, renovation is more likely to involve entirely replacing the existing floors, either like for like using a similar material, or by changing from one material to another.
For wooden floors, the method of restoration generally involves sanding the top layer of hardwood down, cleaning and then revarnishing or staining. Tile floors can be cleaned and any broken or damaged tiles substituted, followed by regrouting or resealing. For carpets, maintenance can usually only extend to cleaning of the pile, any further problems or damage will commonly require replacing the carpet.
Experienced floor renovation companies can advise you of the best method to breathe new life into tired floors or bring old floors up to a high standard. Specialist tools are often necessary for repairing or replacing flooring.

Melksham is well-now for the Melksham Spa Company, formed in 1815 by a collection of ‘respectable gentlemen’, featuring names such as Methuen, Long and others, all of whom had actually benefited considerably from the now decreasing fabric market. Their vision was to develop a spa, emerging after failed efforts to locate coal suddenly uncovered the existence of two springs. The spa contained six three-storeyed, semi-detached accommodation homes forming a crescent, a pump room and hot and cold private baths. Simultaneously, a parliamentary act was passed to ‘improve the pleasing town of Melksham’ through paving and improving footways, in addition to cleaning, lighting and watching the streets. The ongoing appeal of the waters at Bath, however, hindered the success of the spa project. Melksham is currently home to a wide array of leisure centres and festivals.
