Renovating floors could require a variety of tasks, from cleaning and maintenance, repairing existing flooring or even entirely removing and replacing flooring. The kind of restoration work will depend on the kind of the current flooring. In older homes with period floors like flagstone, quarry tile or parquet, restoration will typically involve repair and cleaning of the pre-existing floor as it will likely be a desirable attribute of the home. In contemporary houses with carpet or real wood flooring, renovation is more likely to require completely exchanging the current flooring, either like for like using a similar material, or by changing from one material to another. For wooden flooring, the procedure of restoration generally involves sanding the top layer of hardwood down, cleaning and then revarnishing or staining. Tile flooring can be cleaned and any broken or damaged tiles substituted, followed by regrouting or resealing. For carpets, maintenance can usually only extend to cleaning of the pile, any further problems or damage will typically require replacing the carpet. Specialist floor renovation companies will be able to advise you of the best solution to breathe new life into tired floors or bring old floors up to a high standard. Specialist tools could also be essential for repairing or replacing flooring.

Ullapool is a village of around 1,500 residents in Ross and Cromarty, Scottish Highlands, found around 45 miles (72 kilometres) north-west of Inverness. Despite its tiny dimension it is the largest negotiation for several miles around, as well as a vital port and traveler destination. The North Atlantic Drift passes Ullapool, regulating the temperature level. A few Cordyline australis (New Zealand cabbage trees) are grown in the town and are frequently mistaken for hand trees. The community lies on Loch Broom, on the A835 road from Inverness. The Ullapool River streams through the town. On the east shore of Loch Broom, Ullapool was founded in 1788 as a herring port by the British Fisheries Society. It was developed by Thomas Telford. Prior to then the town was only a trivial community of simply over 20 homes. The harbour is still the side of the community, made use of as an angling port, yachting haven, and ferry port. Ferryboats cruise to Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides. The town was traditionally in Cromartyshire, a county composed of several separate territories scattered throughout northern Ross-shire. Cromartyshire was eliminated and incorporated with bordering Ross-shire in 1890. A number of the pivotal discoveries of the Victorian age that added to the growth of the concept of plate tectonics were made in this area, and there are still regular global geological conferences. It is referred to as the leading geological hotspot in Scotland. Parliament granted permission in the 1890s for a railway from Ullapool to the main Highland network at Garve, but the system was abandoned as a result of inadequate funds. The name is possibly derived from the Norse for “Wool farm” or “Ulli’s farm”.
