Flooring Renovation

Renovating floors may entail a wide range of tasks, from cleaning and maintenance, repairing existing flooring or even entirely removing and replacing flooring. The type of renovation work will be based upon the form of the current flooring. In older buildings with period floors such as flagstone, quarry tile or parquet, renovation will typically include repair and cleaning of the present floor as it will likely be an attractive attribute of the home. In modern properties with carpet or hardwood floors, renovation is more likely to consist of entirely exchanging the existing flooring, either like for like using a similar material, or by changing from one material to another. For wooden flooring, the process of restoration generally entails sanding the top layer of hardwood down, cleaning and then revarnishing or staining. Tile flooring can be cleaned and any broken or damaged tiles replaced, followed by regrouting or resealing. For carpets, maintenance can usually only extend to cleaning of the pile, any further issues or damage will typically require replacing the carpet. Specialist floor renovation companies will be able to advise you of the best solution to breathe new life into tired floors or bring old flooring up to a high standard.
