Renovating floors may involve a wide range of tasks, from cleaning and maintenance, repairing existing flooring or even entirely removing and replacing floors. The sort of restoration work will depend on the type of the current flooring. In older houses with period floors like flagstone, quarry tile or parquet, restoration will typically require repair and cleaning of the pre-existing floor as it will likely be an attractive attribute of the house. In contemporary houses with carpet or wood flooring, restoration is more likely to consist of entirely exchanging the current flooring, either like for like utilising a similar material, or by changing from one material to another.
For wooden flooring, the method of restoration usually entails sanding the top layer of wood down, cleaning and then revarnishing or staining. Tile floors can be cleaned and any broken or damaged tiles exchanged, accompanied by regrouting or resealing. For carpets, maintenance can usually only extend to cleaning of the pile, any further problems or damage will typically require replacing the carpet.
Professional floor renovation companies will be able to advise you of the best method to breathe new life into tired floors or bring old flooring up to a high standard. Specialist tools might also be essential for repairing or replacing flooring.

Westerham is a town and also civil parish in the Sevenoaks Area of Kent, England, situated 5 miles (8 km) west of Sevenoaks. It is recorded as early as the 9th century, and was mentioned in the Domesday Book in a Norman kind, Oistreham (contrast Ouistreham in Normandy, Oistreham in 1086). Ham is Old English for a town or homestead, and so Westerham indicates a westerly homestead. The River Darent streams through the community, and previously powered three watermills. Westerham was house to the Black Eagle Brewery, which was taken control of by Taylor Walker & Co in the 1950s, entering into Ind Coope in 1959 and also closing in 1965. Yeast from the brewery was preserved at the National Collection of Yeast Societies and is currently used by the present day Westerham Brewery which was developed in 2004 by Robert Wicks. The brewery generates a series of ales, consisting of Westerham British Bulldog. Westerham was residence to Crayford Engineering, an effective car conversion firm, from 1962 to the 1980s, functioning from a workshop at Squerryes Mede.
