Laminate flooring is an exceptionally widely used choice of flooring because of its durability, ease of maintenance, and economical price. A comparatively new addition to the market, laminate has rapidly increased in popularity as a substitute for real wood or stone flooring. Laminate flooring is a type of man-made composite flooring made up of several layers, generally with a fibreboard core covered with a decorative layer featuring a printed image of the design, and then finally protected with a wear layer that helps to protect the floor from scratches and other types of damage.
Because laminate floor incorporates a decorative layer that can incorporate any sort of image, it is available in a wide range of different effects to mimic the looks of many other styles of flooring like real wood or slate. While the majority of laminate floor features a smooth top layer, it may also include embossed or textured effects which mimic other kinds of flooring. Laminate flooring is suited to a wide range of rooms, but be careful if you plan on fitting it in a bathroom as specific moisture proofed laminate will have to be used. When choosing the best laminate for your home, decide on one with a suitable Abrasion Class (AC) ranking, as this designates the amount of traffic the laminate is ranked to perform well under.
Laminate flooring is relatively simple to install because of its snap or click together design. However, it can be time consuming to install a large amount of laminate, and also tricky to cut the planks to the exact dimensions, as well as difficult to ensure that the appropriate underlay and damp proofing is installed to suit your house. Specialist flooring companies will be able to advise you on the ideal laminate floor for your room, and ensure that it’s fitted to the highest quality.
