Laminate flooring is an exceptionally widely used selection of flooring because of its durability, ease of maintenance, and affordable price. A relatively recent addition to the market, laminate has quickly expanded in popularity as a substitute for real wood or stone floors. Laminate flooring is a kind of artificial composite flooring composed of several layers, typically with a fibreboard core topped with a decorative layer featuring a printed image of the design, and then lastly protected with a wear layer that helps to protect the floor from scratches and other forms of damage.
Because laminate floor incorporates a decorative layer that can incorporate any kind of image, it comes in a wide array of different effects to mimic the aesthetics of many other flooring materials like real wood or slate. While the majority of laminate floor includes a smooth top layer, it may in addition have embossed or textured effects which mimic other kinds of flooring. Laminate flooring is well suited for a wide range of rooms, but be cautious if you plan on fitting it in a bathroom as specific moisture proofed laminate should be used. When choosing the best laminate for your property, pick one with a suitable Abrasion Class (AC) rating, as this specificies the amount of traffic the laminate is scored to perform well under.
Laminate flooring is relatively easy to install because of its snap or click together design. However, it can be time consuming to install a huge amount of laminate, and also tricky to cut the planks to the exact dimensions, as well as difficult to ensure that the right underlay and damp proofing is installed to suit your house. Specialist flooring companies will be able to give you advice on the ideal laminate floor for your home, and guarantee that it’s fitted to the highest quality.

Dunbeath is a village in south-east Caithness, Scotland on the A9 road. It was the birthplace of Neil M. Gunn (1891-1973), author of The Silver Darlings, Highland River etc., a number of whose stories are set in Dunbeath and its Strath. Dunbeath has an extremely rich archaeological landscape, the website of many Iron Age brochs and also a very early medieval monastic site (see Alex Morrison’s archaeological survey, “Dunbeath: A Cultural Landscape”.) Of Dunbeath’s landscape, Gunn wrote: “These small straths, like the Strath of Dunbeath, have this intimate elegance. In boyhood we learn more about every square backyard of it. We include it physically as well as our memories hold it. Birches, hazel trees for nutting, pools with trout as well as a periodically visible salmon, river-flats with the wind on the bracken and also disappearing rabbit scuts, a riches of wild blossom as well as small bird life, the soaring hawk, the unanticipated roe, the ancient graveyard, ideas of the individual who when lived much inland in straths as well as hollows, the past and also the present kept in a minute of day-dream.” (‘My Little Bit Of Britain’, 1941.). There is a neighborhood museum/landscape analysis centre at the old village college.
