Ceramic tiling is a popular flooring option in kitchens or bathrooms. It’s commonly installed in these rooms as it is extremely durable and moisture resistant, particularly if you opt for glazed ceramic tiles which include a moisture proof melted glass protective covering. This protective covering is immune to stains and dirt, meaning the tiles can merely be wiped clean, making them very easy to maintain. Ceramic tile flooring is also relatively affordable, and is available in a huge choice of designs as they can be printed in patterns or to simulate the appearance of many alternative flooring options such as hardwood or natural stones. Even so, ceramic tiles continue to be very popular in traditional designs such as terracotta or dark gloss.
Ceramic floor tiling is installed directly onto a concrete or backing board subfloor with a layer of mortar as adhesive and finally grout is added between the tiles to act as a sealant. Proper preparation of the concrete subfloor is critical when installing ceramic tiles, as any bumps or ridges in the floor can drastically reduce the life of your tiles and cause them to crack or bend prematurely. Underlay cannot be used with ceramic floor tiles, which may lead to them feeling cool in winter months, although a popular solution for this is to add rugs to achieve a warmer effect.

Aberdour is an old village on the south coast of Fife, Scotland. It is sometimes called the Jewel of Fife because of its beautiful scenery. It had a population of 1633 in the 2001 census. It sits between the larger towns of Burntisland and Dalgety Bay.
The village’s name comes from the Pictish, which indicates that Aberdour has been around since the Dark Ages. Until the 19th century when the railway arrived, Aberdour was actually split in two villages. The railway has attained various ‘best kept station’ awards, and the ticket inspectors were known for singing down the carriages. It is a half an hour train journey to Edinburgh from Aberdour, which increased its reputation with commuters.
In the middle of the village lies Aberdour Castle. It was a little hall house overlooking the Dour Burn in the 13th century. The oldest part of it that is still there is one of the earliest surviving stone castles in mainland Scotland. Close to the castle is St Fillan’s church which is one of the most well-preserved medieval parish churches in Scotland.
If you need a replacement boiler for your property in Aberdour, you should get a minimum of three quotes from respected companies.
