Renovating floors may entail a wide range of tasks, from cleaning and maintenance, repairing existing flooring or even entirely removing and replacing floors. The kind of restoration work will be based upon the form of the current flooring. In older buildings with period floors such as flagstone, quarry tile or parquet, renovation will probably include repair and cleaning of the existing floor as it will likely be an attractive feature of the property. In contemporary properties with carpet or hardwood flooring, renovation is more likely to require completely replacing the existing floors, either like for like with a similar material, or by changing from one material to another.
For wooden floors, the process of restoration usually involves sanding the top layer of wood down, cleaning and then revarnishing or staining. Tile floors can be cleaned and any broken or damaged tiles replaced, accompanied by regrouting or resealing. For carpets, maintenance can usually only extend to cleaning of the pile, any further issues or damage will usually require replacing the carpet.
Experienced floor renovation companies will be able to advise you of the best solution to breathe new life into tired flooring or bring old flooring up to a high standard. Specialist tools could also be necessary for repairing or replacing flooring.

Aberdour is a historic village on the south coast of Fife, Scotland. It is sometimes called the Jewel of Fife because of its charming scenery. It had a population of 1633 in the 2001 census. It is situated between the bigger towns of Burntisland and Dalgety Bay.
The village’s name comes from the Pictish, which indicates that Aberdour has been populated since the Dark Ages. Until the 19th century when the railway was built, Aberdour was actually split in two villages. The railway has attained various ‘best kept station’ awards, and the ticket inspectors were known for singing down the carriages. It is a 30-minute train journey to Edinburgh from Aberdour, which increased its popularity with commuters.
In the middle of the village lies Aberdour Castle. It was a small hall house overlooking the Dour Burn in the 13th century. The oldest part of it that is still there is one of the earliest surviving stone castles in mainland Scotland. Near to the castle is St Fillan’s church which is one of the most well-preserved medieval parish churches in Scotland.
If you require a replacement boiler for your home in Aberdour, it’s best to get at least three quotes from trusted firms.
