Ceramic tiling is a widespread flooring option in kitchens or bathrooms. It’s typically fitted in these rooms as it’s very durable and moisture resistant, especially if you use glazed ceramic tiles which include a moisture proof melted glass protective layer. This protective layer is resilient to stains and dirt, meaning the tiles can simply be wiped clean, making them extremely easy to care for. Ceramic tile flooring is also reasonably inexpensive, and comes in a wide selection of designs as they can be printed in patterns or to simulate the appearance of many alternative flooring options such as hardwood or natural stones. However, ceramic tiles continue to be extremely popular in traditional designs such as terracotta or dark gloss. Ceramic floor tiling is installed directly onto a concrete or backing board subfloor with a layer of mortar as adhesive and lastly grout is added in between the tiles to act as a sealant. Adequate preparation of the concrete subfloor is vital when putting in ceramic tiles, as any bumps or ridges in the floor can dramatically decrease the life of your tiles and cause them to crack or bend prematurely. Underlay cannot be used in combination with ceramic floor tiles, which can result in them feeling cool in the winter, although a favorite remedy for this is to add rugs to attain a warmer result.

Hexham is a market town and civil parish in the English county of Northumberland. It is located south of the River Tyne, and was the administrative centre for the Tynedale district from 1974 to 2009. Smaller towns and villages surrounding Hexham consist of Corbridge, Riding Mill, Stocksfield and Wylam towards the east, Acomb and Bellingham to the north, Allendale towards the south and Haydon Bridge, Bardon Mill and Haltwhistle to the west. Newcastle upon Tyne is almost 25 miles (40 km) towards the east. With reference to the 2011 Census, the town has a permanent population of about 11829. Hexham’s architectural landscape is headed by Hexham Abbey. The present church predominantly dates from approximately 1170, constructed in the Early English Gothic style of architecture. The choir, north and south transepts and the cloisters, where canons studied and meditated, date from this period. The east end was reconstructioned in 1860. The abbey stands at the west side of the market place, which is the home of the Shambles, a Grade II covered market constructed in 1766 by Sir Walter Blackett. At the east end of the market place is the Moot Hall, a 15th-century gatehouse that was part of the town’s defences. The Moot Hall is a Grade I listed building, and was used as a court house up until 1838. The Moot Hall now houses the Council offices of the Museums Department and the ground floor is an art gallery ready for hire. Hexham won the Town award in the 2005 Britain in Bloom awards. In the same year Hexham was additionally named ‘England’s Favourite Market Town’ by the publication ‘Country Life’.
