Renovating floors can require a variety of tasks, from cleaning and maintenance, repairing existing flooring or even completely removing and replacing flooring. The type of renovation work will depend upon the form of the existing flooring. In older buildings with period floors such as flagstone, quarry tile or parquet, renovation will probably require repair and cleaning of the current floor as it will likely be a desirable attribute of the home. In contemporary houses with carpet or real wood floors, restoration is more likely to require entirely changing the existing floors, either like for like using a similar material, or by changing from one material to another. For wooden flooring, the approach of restoration commonly consists of sanding the top layer of real wood down, cleaning and then revarnishing or staining. Tile floors can be cleaned and any broken or damaged tiles swapped, followed by regrouting or resealing. For carpets, maintenance can usually only extend to cleaning of the pile, any further problems or damage will commonly require replacing the carpet. Professional floor renovation companies can advise you of the best method to breathe new life into tired floors or bring old floors up to a high standard. Specialist tools may also be necessary for repairing or replacing flooring.

Hexham is a market town and civil parish in the English county of Northumberland. It is set south of the River Tyne, and was the administrative centre for the Tynedale district from 1974 to 2009. Smaller towns and villages neighboring Hexham consist of Corbridge, Riding Mill, Stocksfield and Wylam towards the east, Acomb and Bellingham to the north, Allendale towards the south and Haydon Bridge, Bardon Mill and Haltwhistle to the west. Newcastle upon Tyne is around 25 miles (40 km) to the east. With reference to the 2011 Census, the town has a permanent population of about 11829. Hexham’s architectural landscape is controlled by Hexham Abbey. The existing church mostly dates from around 1170, constructed in the Early English Gothic design of architecture. The choir, north and south transepts and the cloisters, where canons studied and meditated, date from this time frame. The east end was rebuilt in 1860. The abbey stands at the west side of the market place, which is the home of the Shambles, a Grade II covered market created in 1766 by Sir Walter Blackett. At the east end of the market place is the Moot Hall, a 15th-century gatehouse that belonged to the town’s defences. The Moot Hall is a Grade I listed structure, and was employed as a courthouse before 1838. The Moot Hall now houses the Council offices of the Museums Department and the ground floor is an art gallery open to hire. Hexham won the Town award in the 2005 Britain in Bloom awards. In the same year Hexham was additionally called ‘England’s Favourite Market Town’ by the magazine ‘Country Life’.
