Although tiling is more regularly used to protect bathroom and kitchen walls, it can be a very desirable flooring option. Relatively low cost, floor tiling comes in a multitude of designs and styles and is well suited for use in many rooms of your home. Floor tiling is generally suited for bathroom or kitchen floors as it is simple to clean and extremely long lasting, as well as being moisture proof. Floor tiles are generally manufactured from ceramic or porcelain, however they can be purchased in many other options of material such as slate, marble and limestone, each of which will have a different appearance and durability. When installing floor tiling, it is crucial to ensure that the base surface is as clean and level as possible. Tiling also usually needs an extra backing board to be laid on top of the existing floor to be able to guarantee a flat finish and to maintain the lifespan of your tiles. After this additional board is installed, a layer of mortar is used to adhere the tiles down, and then the gaps in between are filled with grout to seal the tiles against moisture. Fitting tiles yourself can be a difficult job which might require lots of tile cutting, and any errors can be extremely costly to correct or even damage your floor, so choose a professional to fit your floor tiling. Professional tiling companies can suggest for you the ideal tile to use for your room, and guarantee the fitting is of a superior standard.

Alloa is a town located within Clackmannanshire, set in the Central Lowlands of Scotland. It lies on the north bank of the Firth of Forth near to the foot of the Ochil Hills, 5.5 miles (8.9 km) east of Stirling and 7.9 miles (12.7 kilometres) north of Falkirk. The name possibly means ‘rock plain’. During the 2001 census, Alloa had a permanent population of 18,989. Improvements were made to the harbour during the 18th century, resulting in Alloa thriving as a river port through which the products made in Glasgow were exported to continental Europe. At that time, and until the 1950s, the principle industry to the north and east of the town was coal mining. Wool has also always been plentiful locally and in the early years of the nineteenth century, John Paton set up a small yarn-spinning enterprise in the town, later establishing Kilncraigs Mill. His business merged with J. & J. Baldwin of Halifax in 1924 to become the world-famous Paton & Baldwins Ltd. Alloa was well known for its weaving and glassmaking industries during the 19th and into the early 20th century. Alloa has long been associated with the brewing business, with at least nine major breweries producing ales at its height. It was also home to a distillery. Following the closure of the distillery, barrel cooperage continues to flourish in the town. The town boasts a bustling shopping centre, with nationally recognised supermarket chains on the site of the old distillery, near to the railway station.
