While tiling is more commonly used to cover bathroom and kitchen walls, it can be a very attractive flooring option. Relatively affordable, floor tiling comes in a wide variety of designs and styles and is well suited for use in many rooms of your home. Floor tiling is most often applied to bathroom or kitchen floors as it is easy to clean and extremely tough, as well as being moisture proof. Floor tiles are usually produced from ceramic or porcelain, but they can be purchased in many other choices of material such as slate, marble and limestone, each of which will have a different appearance and durability.
When installing floor tiling, it is crucial to ensure that the base surface is as clean and level as possible. Tiling also usually needs an extra backing board to be laid on top of the pre-existing floor so as to guarantee a flat finish and to protect the lifespan of your tiles. After this additional board is installed, a layer of mortar is used to stick the tiles down, and then the gaps in between are filled with grout to seal the tiles against moisture. Laying tiles yourself can be a difficult job which can require lots of tile cutting, and any errors can be very expensive to correct or even cause damage to your floor, so choose an expert to install your floor tiling. Specialist tiling companies can inform you on the perfect tile to use for your room, and ensure the fitting is of an exceptional standard.
