Floor Tiling

Although tiling is more commonly used to cover bathroom and kitchen walls, it can be a very desirable flooring option. Relatively low cost, floor tiling is available in numerous designs and styles and is suitable for use in many rooms of your home. Floor tiling is usually applied to bathroom or kitchen floors as it is easy to clean and highly sturdy, as well as being moisture proof. Floor tiles are typically manufactured from ceramic or porcelain, but they can be purchased in many other choices of material such as slate, marble and limestone, each of which will have a different appearance and durability. When installing floor tiling, it is essential to ensure that the base surface is as clean and level as possible. Tiling also often requires an additional backing board to be laid on top of the present floor to be able to guarantee a flat finish and to maintain the lifespan of your tiles. After this extra board is installed, a layer of mortar is used to adhere the tiles down, and then the gaps in between are filled with grout to seal the tiles against moisture. The installation of tiles yourself can be a difficult job which may require lots of tile cutting, and any errors can be very expensive to rectify or even cause damage to your floor, so choose a professional to install your floor tiling. Experienced tiling companies can inform you on the perfect tile to use for your room, and guarantee the fitting is of a high standard.
