Floor Tiling

Although tiling is more regularly used to cover bathroom and kitchen walls, it can be a very attractive flooring option. Relatively inexpensive, floor tiling comes in a wide variety of designs and styles and is suited to use in many areas of your home. Floor tiling is frequently applied to bathroom or kitchen floors as it is simple to clean and exceptionally durable, as well as being moisture proof. Floor tiles are usually produced from ceramic or porcelain, however they can be purchased in many other choices of material such as slate, marble and limestone, each of which will have a different appearance and durability. When installing floor tiling, it is crucial to ensure that the base surface is as clean and level as possible. Tiling also typically requires an extra backing board to be laid on top of the present floor to be able to ensure a flat finish and to maintain the lifespan of your tiles. After this extra board is installed, a layer of mortar is used to stick the tiles down, and then the gaps in between are filled with grout to seal the tiles against moisture. Fitting tiles yourself can be a difficult job which can require lots of tile cutting, and any mistakes can be extremely expensive to correct or even damage your floor, so choose an expert to install your floor tiling. Specialist tiling companies can advise you on the ideal tile to use for your room, and ensure the fitting is of a high standard.
