While tiling is more generally used to cover bathroom and kitchen walls, it can be a very beautiful flooring option. Relatively inexpensive, floor tiling comes in a multitude of designs and styles and is well suited for use in many parts of your home. Floor tiling is generally suited for bathroom or kitchen floors as it is simple to clean and highly long lasting, as well as being moisture proof. Floor tiles are typically produced from ceramic or porcelain, but they are available in many other options of material such as slate, marble and limestone, each of which will have a different appearance and durability.
When installing floor tiling, it is crucial to ensure that the base surface is as clean and level as possible. Tiling also often requires an additional backing board to be laid on top of the present floor to be able to ensure a flat finish and to protect the lifespan of your tiles. After this additional board is installed, a layer of mortar is used to adhere the tiles down, and then the gaps in between are filled with grout to seal the tiles against moisture. Laying tiles yourself can be a difficult job which may require lots of tile cutting, and any mistakes can be very expensive to rectify or even cause damage to your floor, so choose a professional to lay your floor tiling. Professional tiling companies can advise you on the perfect tile to use for your room, and guarantee the fitting is of a superior standard.
