Floor Tiling

While tiling is more generally used to protect bathroom and kitchen walls, it can be a very desirable flooring option. Relatively cheap, floor tiling comes in a multitude of designs and styles and is appropriate for use in many areas of your home. Floor tiling is generally applied to bathroom or kitchen floors as it is simple to clean and exceptionally sturdy, as well as being moisture proof. Floor tiles are usually manufactured from ceramic or porcelain, however they can be purchased in many other choices of material such as slate, marble and limestone, each of which will have a different appearance and durability. When installing floor tiling, it is vital to ensure that the base surface is as clean and level as possible. Tiling also typically requires an additional backing board to be laid on top of the pre-existing floor to be able to ensure a flat finish and to preserve the lifespan of your tiles. After this additional board is installed, a layer of mortar is used to adhere the tiles down, and then the gaps in between are filled with grout to seal the tiles against moisture. Fitting tiles yourself can be a difficult job which could require lots of tile cutting, and any mistakes can be very expensive to rectify or even damage your floor, so choose an expert to lay your floor tiling. Experienced tiling companies can inform you on the perfect tile to use for your room, and guarantee the fitting is of a high standard.
