Renovating floors may involve an array of tasks, from cleaning and maintenance, repairing existing flooring or even completely removing and replacing floors. The sort of restoration work will be based upon the kind of the present floor. In older buildings with period floors like flagstone, quarry tile or parquet, renovation will probably entail repair and cleaning of the current floor as it will likely be an important attribute of the property. In contemporary properties with carpet or hardwood floors, renovation is more likely to require totally replacing the existing flooring, either like for like using a similar material, or by changing from one material to another. For wooden flooring, the approach of renovation commonly entails sanding the top layer of wood down, cleaning and then revarnishing or staining. Tile floors can be cleaned and any broken or damaged tiles exchanged, followed by regrouting or resealing. For carpets, maintenance can usually only extend to cleaning of the pile, any further problems or damage will commonly require replacing the carpet. Specialist floor renovation companies can advise you of the best solution to breathe new life into tired flooring or bring old flooring up to a high standard. Specialist tools may also be essential for repairing or replacing flooring.

Chepstow is a town in Monmouthshire, Wales. It adjoins the border with Gloucestershire in England. It’s positioned on the River Wye, about two miles (3.2 km) above its confluence with the River Severn, and adjoining the western end of the Severn Bridge. It’s 16 miles (26 km) east of Newport, 18 miles (29 km) north-west of Bristol and 110 miles (180 km) west of London. According to the 2001 Census, the town includes a permanent population of around 10821. Its accessibility to the cities of Bristol, Newport and Cardiff means it includes a big number of commuters. Chepstow Castle, situated on a clifftop above the Wye and its bridge, is often cited as the oldest surviving stone castle in Britain. The castle was established by William Fitzosbern immediately following the Norman conquest, and was extended in later centuries before becoming ruined following the Civil War. A Benedictine priory was also established inside the walled town, which was the centre of the Marcher Lordship of Striguil. The port of Chepstow became noted in the Middle Ages for its imports of wine, and also became a significant centre for the export of timber and bark, from nearby woodland in the Wye valley and Forest of Dean. In the late 18th century the town was a focus of early tourism as part of the “Wye Tour”, and the tourist business remains important. Other significant industries included shipbuilding – among the very first World War National Shipyards was established in the town – and heavy engineering, such as the prefabrication of bridges and, now, wind turbine towers. Chepstow is also well-known for its racecourse, which has hosted the Welsh National each year since 1949.
