Carpets are a hugely popular selection of flooring, particularly in areas of the home where comfort is essential, like living spaces and bedrooms. Carpet defines a variety of flooring in which a material is either woven or tufted to a backing cloth. Carpets come in a huge variety of colours and patterns to match any design of interior decoration, as well as in a number of different types of fibre and piles. Several of the more prevalent examples of fibre materials include the synthetic fibres polypropylene and nylon, and the natural fibres wool, sisal, or jute. These kinds of carpet are frequently available in short or deep pile and can be made by employing a variety of manufacturing methods, such as twist, Saxony, loop pile, Berber, cut and loop, or velvet. Carpets may appear in patterned, plain or striped designs.
All of these different kinds of carpet are graded according to their performance and how effectively they stand up to different amounts of traffic. They are usually specified to be either medium domestic, meaning bedrooms or studies, heavy domestic, specifying living and dining rooms, and very heavy domestic, suitable for utility rooms or hallways. It is always recommended to fit carpet with a layer of underlay underneath, as this can improve the appearance of the carpet, as well as extending its life and delivering better sound and thermal insulation.

It is located next to Little Driffield, where King Aldfrith of Northumbria was reputedly buried, and it is also really close to Nafferton, Hutton Cranswick and Wansford. The town incorporates a small community healthcare facility, modest fire station, police and ambulance stations, various churches, with the largest being All Saints’ Parish Church, whose bells were renewed for the millennium, and a rather small high street. There is also an area of parkland close to the parish church next to the stream, Driffield Beck, that runs roughly parallel to the high street.
