Carpets are a very popular selection of flooring, particularly in rooms of the home where comfort is crucial, like living rooms and bedrooms. Carpet identifies a kind of flooring in which a material is either woven or tufted to a backing cloth. Carpets can be found in a large array of colours and styles to complement any type of interior decoration, as well as in a wide variety of different kinds of fibre and piles. A few of the more prevalent types of fibre materials include the artificial fibres polypropylene and nylon, and the natural fibres wool, sisal, or jute. These types of carpet are frequently available in short or deep pile and can be manufactured by using a variety of manufacturing methods, such as twist, Saxony, loop pile, Berber, cut and loop, or velvet. Carpets may be found in patterned, plain or striped designs.
All of these different types of carpet are categorised according to their performance and how well they are suited to different amounts of traffic. They are usually specified to be either medium domestic, meaning bedrooms or studies, heavy domestic, specifying living and dining rooms, and very heavy domestic, suitable for utility rooms or hallways. It is always recommended to install carpet with a layer of underlay underneath, as this can improve the look and feel of the carpet, as well as extending its life and delivering better sound and thermal insulation.

St. Helier is a parish in Jersey, the largest Channel Island in the English Channel. Although Government House is within St. Saviour, St. Helier is the official capital of Jersey. It is mostly a rural parish, but its urban parts make up 34.2% of the entire population of Jersey.
The town gets its name from Helier, a saint who lived as a hermit and was martyred in Jersey. The church named after him used to be on the edge of the shore, but because of land reclamation it is now some way inland. Land reclamation is where new land is shaped using the ocean, riverbeds or lakebeds.
In 1155, an Abbey of St. Helier was established near to the Hermitage. It was shut during the Reformation and rebuilt to create the Elizabeth Castle. Sir Walter Raleigh, who was the Governor of Jersey between 1600 and 1603, named it after the Queen.
St Helier is base of the Central Market, which is an enclosed market opened in 1882. It is an official Site of Special Interest, featuring Victorian architecture and an ornamental fountain. The market offers flowers, fruit and vegetables, and there are many places to eat and drink there. Next to the Central Market sits Beresford fish Market.
