Ceramic tiling is a widespread flooring option in kitchens or bathrooms. It’s generally installed in these rooms as it is extremely durable and moisture resistant, particularly if you use glazed ceramic tiles which include a moisture proof melted glass protective covering. This protective coating is resilient to stains and dirt, which means the tiles can simply be wiped clean, making them especially easy to maintain. Ceramic tile flooring is also reasonably cheap, and is available in a wide selection of designs as they can be printed in patterns or to simulate the appearance of many different flooring options such as hardwood or natural stones. However, ceramic tiles remain popular in traditional designs such as terracotta or dark gloss.
Ceramic floor tiling is installed directly onto a concrete or backing board subfloor with a layer of mortar as adhesive and finally grout is added between the tiles to act as a sealant. Sufficient preparation of the concrete subfloor is essential when putting in ceramic tiles, as any bumps or ridges in the ground can considerably reduce the lifespan of your tiles and cause them to crack or warp prematurely. Underlay cannot be used in combination with ceramic floor tiles, which can lead to them feeling cold in winter months, although a common solution for this is to include rugs to accomplish a warmer impression.

St. Helier is a town in Jersey, the largest Channel Island in the English Channel. Although Government House is within St. Saviour, St. Helier is the official capital of Jersey. It is mainly a rural parish, but its urban parts make up 34.2% of the whole population of Jersey.
The town gets its name from Helier, a saint who worked as a hermit and was martyred in Jersey. The church named after him used to be on the edge of the shore, but as a result of land reclamation it is now some way inland. Land reclamation is where new land is shaped using the ocean, riverbeds or lakebeds.
In 1155, an Abbey of St. Helier was built close to the Hermitage. It was shut during the Reformation and redesigned to make the Elizabeth Castle. Sir Walter Raleigh, who was the Governor of Jersey between 1600 and 1603, named it after the Queen.
St Helier is base of the Central Market, which is an enclosed market opened in 1882. It is a recognised Site of Special Interest, displaying Victorian architecture and an ornamental fountain. The market sells flowers, fruit and vegetables, and there are a number of places to eat and drink there. Next to the Central Market lies Beresford fish Market.
Any time you’re looking to have house improvements done for your household in St. Helier, make sure you always get quotes from a well-known tradesperson.
