Although tiling is more generally used to protect bathroom and kitchen walls, it can be a very beautiful flooring option. Relatively cheap, floor tiling comes in a multitude of designs and styles and is appropriate for use in many parts of your home. Floor tiling is frequently applied to bathroom or kitchen floors as it is simple to clean and very durable, as well as being moisture proof. Floor tiles are usually produced from ceramic or porcelain, however they can be purchased in many other options of material such as slate, marble and limestone, each of which will have a different appearance and durability.
When installing floor tiling, it is critical to ensure that the base surface is as clean and level as possible. Tiling also often needs an additional backing board to be laid on top of the present floor to be able to ensure a flat finish and to preserve the lifespan of your tiles. After this extra board is installed, a layer of mortar is used to stick the tiles down, and then the gaps in between are filled with grout to seal the tiles against moisture. Fitting tiles yourself can be a difficult job which might require lots of tile cutting, and any errors can be extremely expensive to correct or even cause damage to your floor, so choose an expert to install your floor tiling. Professional tiling companies can suggest for you the ideal tile to use for your room, and guarantee the fitting is of a high standard.

Dunbeath is a town in south-east Caithness, Scotland on the A9 road. It was the birth place of Neil M. Gunn (1891-1973), author of The Silver Darlings, Highland River etc., a number of whose novels are set in Dunbeath and also its Strath. Dunbeath has a very rich archaeological landscape, the site of countless Iron Age brochs and also an early middle ages monastic site (see Alex Morrison’s historical study, “Dunbeath: A Cultural Landscape”.) Of Dunbeath’s landscape, Gunn wrote: “These small straths, like the Strath of Dunbeath, have this intimate beauty. In boyhood we get to know every square backyard of it. We incorporate it literally as well as our memories hold it. Birches, hazel trees for nutting, swimming pools with trout as well as a sometimes visible salmon, river-flats with the wind on the bracken as well as vanishing rabbit scuts, a wealth of wild blossom and also tiny bird life, the skyrocketing hawk, the unforeseen roe, the old graveyard, thoughts of the folk that when lived far inland in straths as well as hollows, the past and also the present kept in a minute of day-dream.” (‘My Bit of Britain’, 1941.). There is a neighborhood museum/landscape analysis centre at the old village institution.
