Floor Tiling

Although tiling is more regularly used to cover bathroom and kitchen walls, it can be a very beautiful flooring option. Relatively inexpensive, floor tiling comes in a multitude of designs and styles and is appropriate for use in many areas of your home. Floor tiling is most often used on bathroom or kitchen floors as it is easy to clean and extremely strong, as well as being moisture proof. Floor tiles are typically produced from ceramic or porcelain, however they are available in many other options of material such as slate, marble and limestone, each of which will have a different appearance and durability. When installing floor tiling, it is very important to ensure that the base surface is as clean and level as possible. Tiling also often needs an additional backing board to be laid on top of the pre-existing floor to be able to guarantee a flat finish and to maintain the lifespan of your tiles. After this additional board is installed, a layer of mortar is used to stick the tiles down, and then the gaps in between are filled with grout to seal the tiles against moisture. Fitting tiles yourself can be a difficult job which can require lots of tile cutting, and any mistakes can be very expensive to rectify or even damage your floor, so choose a professional to fit your floor tiling. Experienced tiling companies can suggest for you the ideal tile to use for your room, and ensure the fitting is of a high standard.
