While tiling is more commonly used to cover bathroom and kitchen walls, it can be a very appealing flooring option. Relatively affordable, floor tiling comes in numerous designs and styles and is ideal for use in many parts of your home. Floor tiling is generally used on bathroom or kitchen floors as it is simple to clean and extremely heavy duty, as well as being moisture proof. Floor tiles tend to be manufactured from ceramic or porcelain, however they can be purchased in many other options of material such as slate, marble and limestone, each of which will have a different appearance and durability. When installing floor tiling, it is essential to ensure that the base surface is as clean and level as possible. Tiling also usually needs an extra backing board to be laid on top of the current floor so as to ensure a flat finish and to preserve the lifespan of your tiles. After this extra board is installed, a layer of mortar is used to adhere the tiles down, and then the gaps in between are filled with grout to seal the tiles against moisture. Fitting tiles yourself can be a difficult job which could require lots of tile cutting, and any mistakes can be extremely costly to rectify or even damage your floor, so choose a specialist to lay your floor tiling. Specialist tiling companies can advise you on the perfect tile to use for your room, and ensure the fitting is of a superior standard.

Knaresborough is a historical market town, spa town and civil parish in the Borough of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. In the past an area of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is situated on the River Nidd, 4 miles east from the centre of Harrogate. The town is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 as ‘Cenheard’s fortress’, with the name of the region going through various alterations over the next couple of centuries. The development of the town began around 1100, when it started to offer a market and bring in traders to service the castle. The town was not granted a royal charter to affirm its status as a market town till 1310 by Edward II. A market continues to be held every Wednesday in the market square throughout the year.
