Ceramic tiling is a common flooring option in kitchens or bathrooms. It’s generally found in these rooms as it is very durable and moisture resistant, particularly if you use glazed ceramic tiles which have a moisture proof melted glass protective coating. This protective covering is immune to stains and dirt, meaning the tiles can simply be wiped clean, making them particularly simple to maintain. Ceramic tile flooring is also fairly affordable, and comes in a huge variety of designs as they can be printed in patterns or to imitate the appearance of many different flooring options such as wood or natural stones. However, ceramic tiles remain extremely popular in traditional designs such as terracotta or dark gloss.
Ceramic floor tiling is installed directly onto a concrete or backing board subfloor with a layer of mortar as adhesive and lastly grout is added in between the tiles to act as a sealant. Sufficient preparation of the concrete subfloor is critical when putting in ceramic tiles, as any bumps or ridges in the ground can considerably decrease the lifespan of your tiles and cause them to break or warp prematurely. Underlay cannot be used with ceramic floor tiles, which can result in them feeling cool in winter months, although a popular solution for this is to add rugs to attain a warmer appearance.

Littleborough is a village within the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, in Greater Manchester. It is situated in the upper Roch Valley by the foothills of the South Pennines, 3 miles (4.8 km) northeast of Rochdale and 12.6 miles (20.3 km) north-northeast of the city of Manchester. In 2001, Littleborough and its surrounding suburbs of Calderbrook, Shore and Smithy Bridge were recorded as having a population of 13,807. When cotton was introduced as a base to make textiles, Littleborough experienced an increase of families, primarily from the neighbouring county, the West Riding of Yorkshire. Affluent homes and estates were established on the borders of the town. Coal mining, engineering ventures and significantly large textile mills brought about Littleborough’s population expansion and urbanisation, which led to its status as a mill town. Through the mid-20th century, imports of cheaper foreign items contributed towards the gradual deindustrialisation of Littleborough, but the commercial diversity of the town enabled it to repel the following economic depression, which was witnessed elsewhere in North West England. Littleborough’s stone-built town centre is designated as a Conservation Area for its special architectural qualities. The town also boasts good dining and leisure facilities, with Littleborough Rugby Union Football Club being elected ‘Club of the Year’ at National Ruby Football Awards. For all of your house upgrades, make sure to make usage of reputable contractors in Littleborough to make certain of quality.
