Although tiling is more commonly used to cover bathroom and kitchen walls, it can be a very attractive flooring option. Relatively affordable, floor tiling comes in a wide variety of designs and styles and is well suited for use in many rooms of your home. Floor tiling is frequently used on bathroom or kitchen floors as it is easy to clean and highly strong, as well as being moisture proof. Floor tiles are normally manufactured from ceramic or porcelain, however they can be purchased in many other options of material such as slate, marble and limestone, each of which will have a different appearance and durability. When installing floor tiling, it is vital to ensure that the base surface is as clean and level as possible. Tiling also generally needs an extra backing board to be laid on top of the existing floor to be able to guarantee a flat finish and to maintain the lifespan of your tiles. After this additional board is installed, a layer of mortar is used to stick the tiles down, and then the gaps in between are filled with grout to seal the tiles against moisture. Fitting tiles yourself can be a difficult job which might require lots of tile cutting, and any errors can be extremely expensive to rectify or even damage your floor, so choose an expert to fit your floor tiling. Experienced tiling companies can suggest for you the perfect tile to use for your room, and guarantee the fitting is of an exceptional standard.
